We encourage students to take full advantage of all of the resources at NBPS as they make their choices, and we expect that students will stick with these decisions. We recognize, however, that changes may be necessary in some circumstances. Therefore, there is an Add/Drop period during which students may make a request to change a class; this period occurs only during the second and third weeks of the school year. Similarly, at the start of the second and third trimesters, students will have the first week (5) days to make changes to trimester courses only.
The existence of this add/drop period does not, however, guarantee that it will be possible for a student to make the schedule change that he or she wants to make. For this reason, it is very important to select the right classes in the spring and ensure that each student is set up to succeed throughout the year.
After the Add/Drop period, a student must withdraw officially from a class in order to leave it. Parent permission is required to drop a class. Dropping a class, especially to move down a level, is not recommended and may not be possible due to scheduling complexities. Withdrawal from a class is indicated by a “W” on the student’s transcript.
