Students worked in groups to create a town. They discussed what were important features in a town and cardinal directions and scale. Students then wrote directions around the town and practiced using geography skills as well as the importance of sequence of events.
Mrs. A secured the Big Map of Vermont to practice geographic skills of scale, direction and to create a familiarity with general geographic terms and map basics
Student became actively involved with developing the classroom library. After learning about different literary genres, student had the opportunity to analysis different reading for comprehension as well as determining genre. Students then applied the skills to reading the books in the classroom and categorizing the novels. They also had the opportunity to apply for different library "jobs".
