What is formal sorority recruitment?

Formal recruitment is a structured process where potential new members (PNMs) visit each Panhellenic sorority on campus over several rounds to learn about their values, sisterhood, and philanthropy before receiving a bid to join a chapter.

Who can participate in recruitment?

Any full-time NKU undergraduate student who identifies as a woman and meets the minimum GPA requirement is welcome to participate.

Do I need to register for recruitment?

Yes. Registration is required and includes submitting your information, paying a small fee (comes with a free T) and a picture!

Is there a dress code for recruitment?

Yes, each round has a recommended attire. It starts casual and becomes more formal by Preference Round. NKU Panhellenic typically provides a guide beforehand. Don't know what to wear? Jump over to our "Need Something To Wear" tab and find all the information!

What if I don’t get a bid?

Not everyone may receive a bid during formal recruitment, but you can still participate in Continuous Open Bidding (COB) if eligible chapters are accepting members. At NKU this is highly unlikley. 

Can I still go through recruitment if I’m a transfer or sophomore?

Absolutely! Many chapters welcome upperclassmen, and some even value the extra maturity and experience.

How much does it cost to join a sorority?

Costs vary by chapter and include dues, national fees, Financial transparency is important, and each chapter will share a breakdown during recruitment.

Can I drop out of recruitment if I change my mind?

Yes, recruitment is a voluntary process. You can withdraw at any time. If you don’t find the right fit now, you can explore COB or try again in the future.

What kind of time commitment is expected?

Sorority life involves weekly chapter meetings, events, philanthropy, and optional socials. It’s a commitment—but one that’s manageable alongside classes and other activities.
