Enrichment programs includes the topics of physical education, health and wellness, fine arts, high ability, world language, dual language, tutoring, enrichment afterschool, media specialists, English learner education, language access, and summer school. Most activities and functions performed by this team are funded by Title II dollars. Since Innovation Schools of all types receive those dollars directly, they will need to purchase back all services provided by this team. The portfolio team will apprise innovation network leaders of updates to a catalog of services when they become available.
Innovation Conversions and Innovation Restarts may experience the cessation of services at the time of transition, including but not limited to:
● Coaching provided to teachers, either ongoing or by request
● Access to district pacing guides, webinars, or other instructional focused resources that are shared by instructional coaches or content experts
● Session access, depending on the team lead
The high ability coordinator for IPS will continue to report to the state on the identification and service plans for students who are within IPS-LEA Innovation Network Schools. Charter schools will be responsible for coordinating their own assessment and reporting to the state. For more information, please reach out to Candace Huehls (huehlsca@myips.org).
English Learner Education services with IPS will differ depending upon school type.
● Restarts with a charter - When a school moves from the IPS LEA (such as when a partner uses a charter to restart an IPS school), IPS is no longer responsible for providing EL services to students or staffing for the building. In the spring, schools will have a consultation with someone from the EL team to discuss the status of services and students in the building, and connection to requested resources.
● Conversions/Jump Starts - In an Innovation Conversion or Jump Start, the school will stay within the IPS LEA. As such, IPS will maintain staffing allocation control and oversight of the EL services within the building. Moving forward, these schools will also be a part of the Student-Based Allocation funding model, and so EL teachers and services will be “locked” unless otherwise specified in the contract.
○ The school does have the opportunity to weigh in on any new hire. However, ratios and allocations will continue to be managed by Central Services.
○ These positions are then still subject to the fall adjustment process that is managed by Central Services. At this time, schools may lose or gain a staff member and as Central works to find all staff a home.
○ All Innovation Schools within the IPS LEA should follow the guidelines provided by that team.
● Charter Partners - Charters will be responsible for their EL services. If a catalog of EL services becomes available, the portfolio team will provide these materials to leaders across the network and update them here.
