Boys--Sam Zastrow…”has kept getting better all season. Today he had his most competitive race on a tough course, handling the hills and working near Arden throughout the event. His effort down the last 800 meters and approaching the finish was exciting and awesome. As a freshman, Sam has left his mark on the program, with many great races to come in his future!”
Girls--Kate Reilly…”really worked well with Alli in her first varsity level race and gave her confidence that she needed to be successful and help the team. To see Kate once again garner All-Conference honors was awe inspiring. This is her third consecutive year on the AC team. That in itself is quite an accomplishment!”
Boys--John Mark Hawley “…for John Mark it was a bittersweet day. In his last race as a Hatchet, he went out with a bang! A big P.R., exceeding his time goal and finishing as a medalist. He will always be able to look back on his last race and smile!”
Girls--Alli Palmer, “…she really went out aggressively and challenged herself, leading the JV race early on and never looking back. This paid off for her as she was able to finish as JV champion with a medalist effort and she had a career best time by over a minute! To see her rate of improvement over the course of the season has been nothing short of amazing!”
Boys--Taje Casey… “Taje, after struggling thru injuries last season is really coming around this year. Each meet he is getting better and he is learning how to use his stride length and turnover to his advantage. He had a big personal best today and finished ahead of numerous scoring athletes from other squads.”
Girls--Macey Mann… “Macey was right on Rachael’s heels most of this race and looked very comfortable working with the lead pack. Not only was it a seasonal best effort for her, but it is the kind of thing we need her to do for us to be able to battle some of the tougher teams that lie ahead for us. Macey has been so steady for our program for the last four years as a leader by example at each and every practice and race.”
Boys--Sam Zastrow… “Sam, as only a freshman, has really made a big impact on the team. He has been a scorer for us every meet and continues to push himself to new levels. He is nearing the sub-19 barrier and PR’d for the second week in a row. He had fun too, tonight working with his teammates with their pack-style attack.”
Girls--Geena Wanta... “Geena crushed her P.R. (for the 2nd race in a row, this time by 30 seconds) and had the best race of her career. She looked relaxed throughout her race and used her experience as a seasoned varsity-level runner to put her in a medalist position.”
Boys--Owen Dickrell … “Owen got out strong and worked with Presley late in the race to have an solid outing today. I liked how our top four guys fed off of each other, this is important in a field with a lot of runners. Owen ran to a seasonal best effort by nearly a minute with his 18:43 effort.”
Girls--Serena Reinke … “Serena led our JV girls to a team title in the D2/D3 race. Her 3rd place medalist effort and seasonal best time of 23:24 was critical in a strong JV Hatchet pack.”
Boys--Ty Anthes… “Ty is in his first year of high school Cross-Country and yet he has found his niche, getting better each race as he grows as a Cross-Country runner. It was nice to see him get his first individual race title, medal and lead the field from start to finish in the process!
Girls--Emily Lacina… “Most outside of our program don’t know it but Emily has been on the mend since the end of last season. It’s nice to see her at Fall Creek looking near 100% for the first time in a while! She has worked so hard to get back to that level and it’s starting to show. She had an incredible week of practice as well going into this meet. Additionally, her leadership skills with the team are really helping the younger athletes on a daily basis.”
Girls- Rachael Reilly-“Rachael has made a huge impact to this team since coming aboard last year as a freshman. It was nice to see her get out and run confidently tonight with the leader’s and execute her racing strategy flawlessly again. She looked strong tonight, a nice rebound after a challenging outing at Ashland last week for her by her standards.”
Boys- Arden Ziert-“Arden has been doing an awesome job leading the boy’s team in practice. It was nice to see him work with Brett and find himself in a medalist position at the end of the race. He has been a varsity level competitor since his freshman season, but to see him take that experience to the next level tonight will only help him in future races this year.”
Girls-Morgan Hansmann… “Morgan got out strong with our girl’s pack, worked well with Macey mid-race and had a solid finish to led the way for our girls. It was nice to see her have that success as she has been nursing some early season aches and pains. She also improved by over 2 minutes on the same course from last year!”
Boys-Presley Gutbrod… “He ran really confident and relaxed throughout his race and put himself in a competitive position early on that he was able to maintain. Presley is still figuring out his limits and ultimate ‘top end’ in a race. He ran nearly a minute and a half faster this year on the same course, as compared to last year at the event.”
