Week #7: Great Northern Conference Meet (October 18, 2014)

Kate Krueger, sophomore

“…Kate made a strong move on the second lap of the course and won the JV girls race for her first win individual title of the season. She is running with a lot of confidence and will be an key scorer on varsity for us in years to come.”

Alex Johnson, sophomore

 “…Alex, after rehabbing an injury the majority of the early season, he appears to be back to where he left off his freshman season. To earn All-Conference status and finish in the #2 scoring position for us on Saturday was a key component in helping us achieve our team goal of finishing second in the GNC ahead of Medford.”

Week #6: Northland Pines Invite/Hatchet Invitational (October 7/11, 2014)

Alex Zedler, senior

“…Alex had an outstanding week running her fastest 5K at Eagle River on Tuesday, with her top team finish and complimenting it on Saturday with her seasonal best 4K time. Her leadership both during races and in practice will be a key component in our tournament success this year.”

Jacob McGuire, senior

“…Jacob is really putting things together at the right time of the year. He is becoming one of our front-runners in our ‘pack’ and had a big P.R. at Edgewater going sub-18 for the first time in his career with his 17:39.”

Week #5: Three Lakes Invite/Hortonville “Polar Bear” Invite  (September 25/27, 2014)

Rylie Swan, sophomore

…”Rylie was our top finisher for the Girls JV, with a nearly 2-minute P.R. medalist effort. Rylie continues to improve and has earned a varsity spot at our next meet.”

Troy VanStrydonk, junior

…”Troy made a strong mid-race move from 6th to third and followed with a strategical surge at 1000 meters remaining to win his first individual varsity invitational championship. Troy covered the 5000 meter course in a seasonal best time of 17:52.”

Week #4: Wausau “Smiley” Invitational (September 20, 2014)

Susan Waye, junior

 … “Susan was our top performer in the Girls JV race…Susan ran in the largest race of the day, competing against 500 other runners she didn’t panic and established herself in the D2/D3 portion of the field and ran a strong race finishing with one of her best 4K times ever. Her time was over two minutes faster than last year on the same course. She is working hard in practices as well and making a solid push for a varsity spot.””

Jared Kiander, senior

… “Jared after a strong race at Fall Creek last weekend, he followed it up with a solid performance at Smiley. One of our goals was to break up the Shorewood ‘slam’ and Jared made a valid attempt with a strong last 800 meters nearly catching the last scoring runner for the Greyhounds. Jared’s time would have also scored for us on varsity today!”

Week #3: Fall Creek Invitational (September 13, 2014)

Dani Whiting, junior

“…Dani picked up her second invitational individual title this season and ran a strong race from the front outdistancing a Bloomer athlete that came into this race undefeated. She did this by making a great move going into the hilly portion of the course and really put the hammer down coming out of the hills to seal her individual title.”

Austin Kaiser, senior

“…Austin had a super week of practice, starting early with an awesome workout at Kings Hill on Tuesday and finishing with a near medalist performance at Fall Creek. Additionally, he is really demonstrating some solid leadership skills in positively guiding the underclassmen this season.”

Week #2: Freedom Invitational & Inter squad Scrimmage (September 4-5, 2014)

Emmy Larson, senior

“…Emmy really rose to the occasion on Friday as she established her position early and used some great strategy throughout the race to score for us. She is really working on the mental aspect of running and realizing the importance of that in the overall scheme of things.”

Tyler Wittmann, senior

“…Ty was one of the seniors that made a great decision on behalf of the team Thursday to get a simulated race in at Bradley Park. He led our pack thru the mile to their fastest “pack split” to date and went on to take the impromptu inter squad event.”

Week #1: Ashland Invitational (August 28, 2014)

Maggee Renn, sophomore

“…Maggee behind a ‘super-strong’ finishing effort helped propel the girls to their team title. With a year of varsity experience under her belt, she is now finding her niche in the scoring pack. That will only seve to make our girl’s team better.”

Andrew Olson, senior

“…Andrew with his natural athletic abilities he is working his way into a varsity scoring position. Andrew is a hard worker and extremely coachable. He also has really absorbed a lot in a few short weeks.”
