Sometimes students may make a threat of self harm by their words, writing or actions. If a student says they want to harm themselves please follow the protocols listed below.
Notify an administrator and a member of the Suicide Intervention Team ASAP. The members of the Suicide Intervention Team are Mrs. Sims (School Social Worker) Mrs. Allah (Communities In School) and Mrs. Taylor (School Counselor)
The student must be interviewed by the SIT team and the parent must be contacted before the end of the school day. If a parent is not contacted before the end of the day the student is required to stay at the school until contact has been made with the parent.
Please take any threat of self harm very serious

Staff and Parent Referrals
Complete the GCS Referral Form:
Staff members or parents can refer a student by filling out the GCS referral form. This form is crucial for documenting the concerns and necessary details regarding the student.
Parent consent must also be obtained This step is important to respect the privacy and legal rights of our students.
SBMH Team Review:
Once the referral form and consent are submitted, the inhouse School-Based Mental Health (SBMH) team will convene to review the referral. The team will assess the situation and determine the best support for the student.
Counselor Meetings:
The counselor may meet with students infrequently for concerns that do not require parent permission. If a student has a minor concern, they can also self-refer for support.
Emailing Concerns:
Teachers are encouraged to email the school counselor about any infrequent concerns regarding a student. Parents can call or email the counselor about any minor counseling concerns for their child.
