Video Production

Course Description:

1 semester for 7th/8th grade students

This is an introductory course that will cover the fundamental concepts and technical skills necessary to produce short video compositions independently and within a group, in various genres. Students will learn pre-production steps from idea development to storyboarding and basic script writing. Students will develop compositional shooting techniques using a HD camcorder while working both behind and in front of the camera. Students will be introduced to stop motion animation techniques via iPad apps and develop post-editing skills through the Apple suite of software with access to Adobe Creative Cloud software. Students will tackle media ethics and how to address copyright and fair laws in their productions. Students will maintain an online portfolio of their projects and have opportunities to submit to festivals and competitions.
