What is Media Arts?

Media Arts @ Parks Jr. High

The Media Arts classes offer students an opportunity to explore various areas of media arts such as video production, stop motion, animation, digital photography, photo editing and manipulation, digital painting and drawing, and vector graphics. Students will learn about planning/idea development, composition, elements of art, principles of design, storyboarding, and animation techniques throughout the various classes.  For more specific information on each class offering, click on class links above!

The media arts classes meet the California State Standards for the Visual Arts and Career Technical Education, the National Core Art Standards, and the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) National Educational Technology Standards (NETS).

About Mrs. Champlin

I have over 20 years experience teaching multiple levels from pre-school to adult school!  I have been teaching at Parks Jr. High since 2002.  I have B.A. in Studio Art, a single subject credential in Art with a supplementary authorization for Computer Applications, Introductory English and a M.A. in Educational Technologies. I've taught basic and media art classes, ceramics, 5/6th grade GATE, remedial math and reading, and more.

The classes I currently teach here at Parks are Digital Design and Video Production (and I also taught Web Design for about a decade.) I also worked in high-tech, strategic public relations in the Bay Area for almost 4 years before moving to Southern California and returning to a career in education.

I grew up in Central California in the small town of Strathmore. I currently live in Long Beach where I enjoy time with my husband, two children and a sweet kitty!  I love being a mom and supporting my children in their passions for sports, music and the arts.  I also enjoy nature, cooking and gardening!
