English language development instruction is provided to all English Learners in the three stages of proficiency: Emerging, Expanding, and Bridging. While advancing along the continuum of ELD levels, students engage in intellectually challenging tasks in all subject areas. Students learn to communicate in three modes: collaborative, interpretive, and productive. Students apply learning through three cross-mode language processes: structuring cohesive texts, expanding and enriching ideas, and connecting and condensing ideas.
