To keep our art room a comforting and creative sanctuary, we all agree to follow a few simple guidelines. These rules ensure that our space remains a place where everyone feels safe to take risks and every artist has the high-quality tools they need to succeed.
Respect the Teacher: When Mrs. Baumer is speaking, we give our full attention so everyone knows how to stay safe and successful.
Respect Your Peers: We keep our hands to ourselves and respect others' personal space. We never touch another artist's work without their permission.
Studio Voices: We use quiet, "studio-level" voices. This ensures that everyone can stay in their "creative flow" without being disrupted.
Helpful, Not Hurtful: When we look at each other’s work, we provide feedback that is kind and encouraging. We build each other up; we never tear each other down.
Respect the Process: Understand that art takes time and effort. We celebrate the "happy accidents" and keep trying, even when a project gets challenging.
Responsibility: You are the lead artist of your journey! This means staying on task and being responsible for the progress and care of your own artwork from start to finish.
Clean Hands, Clean Space: We are all responsible for our own cleanup. We leave our stations better than we found them, ensuring that the next class has a fresh start.
Treat Supplies with Care: Our materials are the tools that bring our ideas to life. We use them gently and put them back in their proper homes when we are finished.
Safety First: We move mindfully through the studio. Walking feet and careful hands keep our masterpieces (and ourselves!) safe from accidents.
By following these expectations, you help protect the freedom we have to be creative! When we all feel respected and safe, we can do our best work. I am so proud to share this studio with such a responsible group of artists.
