This section will give students and Assessors tips and ideas for sources of evidence that might support sign off of proficiencies
The following ideas may be useful to help students in gathering appropriate evidence to support sign off of proficiencies:
Videoing a clinical skills or simulation session of themselves performing or demonstrating the skill, with accompanying narrative around knowledge, skill and values
Peer assessment in simulation using a checklist
Evidence of engagement with clinicalskills.net or other online learning resources (all students have free access to clinicalskills.net as part of their course)
Engagement with the Clinical Skills Repository, sharing this with your PA to assist assessment
Engagement with - and reflection on - self-directed learning opportunities at SHU
Micro teaching to colleagues, peers, patients, evidenced with reflection and/or testimony
Feedback from patients
Practice Supervisor - "We don't provide this skill/experience in this team, how can we support the student to gather evidence for the skill?"
Support the student to visit other areas within the trust that provide the skill/experience, they can ask for testimony
You can provide an opportunity to use simulation, most HEI's will support this, in many areas they may be able to support you with scenario writing and equipment
Are there any Service Users in your area that have been involved in that skill/experience, could they work with the student to produce a patient information leaflet or other materials
Ask the student to produce some area based information for your particular area, create a teaching pack/resource, put together patient information/ accessible information
Create a poster aimed at Service Users/Family/ Staff/Students
Create and deliver a microteach to other students/staff
Ask them to do a presentation about the subject matter and its links to your field of practice
