Clinical Skills Checklists and Q&A for Interview

Here are some Clinical Skills Checklists and Q & As for Annexe B skills. These have been highlighted in this area based on some feedback from practice partners and considering the fact that some clinical areas might not be able to offer these skills as part of their day-to-day practice.   

Clinical Skills Checklists and Q & As can be used by the Practice Assessors if they rarely use the skill. This will support if a Practice Assessor (PA) is assessing a student in a simulated environment. If a student performs the skill with a practitioner who is not their PA, the Clinical Skills Checklist can be downloaded and completed to provide evidence supporting towards a PA signing off the student.

Each checklist for the skills below can be found on the clinicalskills.net site. To find these follow the instructions:

• Login to clinicalskills.net (all students have access to this site, provided by SHU - Practice Supervisors/Assessors may not have access to clincalskills.net but the student can sign in to access the checklist required).

• From the main dashboard select 'Guides'.

• Search for the guide you need by looking through the subsections of the procedures, or alternatively by using the search tool, entering the key word of the guide you wish to find, e.g. 'enema'.

• Click to open the correct guide.

• Click the option 'Get the Guide Checklist'.

• This will open the checklist, allowing you to either complete this digitally online whilst logged into clinicalskills.net, or alternatively to print out and complete this as a hard copy.

There are hundreds of guides and associated checklists on clinicalskills.net, which can be used to provide supporting evidence of assessment in a simulated environment, but the following are common examples of those which some students find difficult to get signed off.
