The conflict begins when Sadness starts touching the memories, starting with the core memory. As Sadness touches the memories, the happy memories then start to change into sad memories. As the memories start to change, the core memories then start falling out of their slots. Joy tries to put back the core memories, but in turn it causes her, sadness, and the memories to be sucked out of headquarters. As Joy and Sadness are sucked out of headquarters, the rest of the emotions are left in charge. Now, Joy and Sadness must find their way back before anger, disgust, and fear affect all of Riley’s memories and start change that may be irreversible.
In this scene, Sadness starts touching the memories which are turning happy memories into sad memories, and as Joy scrambles to fix the memories, they get sucked out of headquarters. This scene portrays the panic that the emotions felt while the change is happening.
