Now that Disgust, Anger, and Fear are left to manage Riley’s emotions, some things start to change. Since Riley does not feel happy in San Francisco, the emotions decide that the best decision to do is for her to run away back to Minnesota. While Disgust, Anger, and Fear are influencing Riley’s new decisions, Joy and Sadness are going through a journey in order to return back to headquarters. As they venture through the various locations in Riley’s brain, they come across Bing Bong (who is Riley’s imaginary friend from childhood). Bing Bong leads them through a path back to headquarters, but during their journey they face a problem, in order to escape the memory dump a sacrifice must be made. In result, Bing Bong decides that it will be best to sacrifice himself so that Joy and Sadness can escape from memory dump, so that Riley’s memories could be restored.

These scenes are able to create a connection with the characters, allowing one to relate, feel sympathy, or even to wonder what will happen next. This brings big questions to the table. Does Joy make it in time to restore Riley's memories? What happens to Bing Bong? What will happen next?
