The inciting incident is when the characters: Riley, mom, dad, and the emotions (Joy, Sadness, Fear, Disgust, Anger) are introduced. On top of that, Riley’s parents decided that they will be moving to San Francisco. With the introduction of the characters, we can better understand who the characters are and the role they play in the movie and the impact they have. The move to San Francisco uprooted Riley’s life causing her to feel unstable. The move was so sudden and Riley felt as though she was not ready for it. This is an important moment in the movie because this is the event that causes the following emotions and conflicts in the movie.
The emotions finally meet baby Riley. This displays how as Riley grows older, more emotions come in which helps in her development. It also allows the audience to see what role each emotion plays in Riley’s life. For instance, Joy allows baby Riley to laugh and enjoy the activties that she does
All of a sudden, Riley and her family move to San Francisco. This scene is able to display the emotions that Riley goes through during the process of the move. It allows a connection between Riley and the audience as some may relate to Riley and it immerses us in what she was feeling.
