At Bishopmill Primary, we have a comprehensive support programme for Military families and children.
We have a coffee morning for Military parents/ families or parents who are working away for longer spells at a time on every first Thursday of the month at 2pm in our Community Connections room. Please come to the front office. You will have the opportunity to speak to other parents with the same background, receive supporting resources and access to other support systems. We will be joined by our home school link worker, Education Support Officer (Dandelion Project), Adult and Family Learning Coordinator and other guests. Please come along and join us.
Military children are being supported and trained with the programme “Seasons for Growth”. We also offer Seasons for Growth workshops for parents to support your child at home. Seasons for Growth is a loss and grief education programme provided to children and young people between the ages of 6-18. The core element of the programme is the social and emotional wellbeing of young people who have experienced significant changes to family structures.
Bishopmill Primary School has a dedicated “Military Buddy” system where military children are being trained in supporting each other in school.
The Naval Children's Charity have launched this new website full of fantastic FREE resources and information that may be helpful to practitioners working with Children and Young People from any of the services, Navy & Marine, Army and RAF.
