After a consultation with pupils, parents and community members we launched our new vision in August 2019.
The statement FROM A LITTLE ACORN GROWS A MIGHTY OAK was voted by overwhelming majority to be our new vision statement.
Our school community felt our values were still very relevant for our school. They are Achievement, Cooperation, Outstanding Behaviour, Respect and New Beginnings; ACORN.
They state the following:
Keeps us safe
Keeps others safe
Tracks behaviour
Keeps everyone on task
Encourages respect
Makes the school a happy place
Helps us to achieve and cooperate
Furthermore- they understand our ACORN positive relationships chart and know what would happen if inappropriate/atypical behaviour behaviour transpired.
Our aim at Bishopmill Primary is to ensure everyone becomes a successful learner, confident individual, effective contributor and responsible citizen. We want our pupils to develop lifelong skills for learning, life and work through everyone engaging in/with learning experiences including:
Talking and thinking floorbook activities
Whole school, class and ACORN achievement assemblies
Pupil's voice groups across our school
Developing young workforce links (annual careers fayre/STEM week/ career talks in classrooms)
Sharing the learning in classes up to 4 times a year- school website, seesaw, newsletters, twitter
Community involvement through parental engagement and support and links with local businesses
Participation in various concerts and performances throughout the year
Outdoor learning
These activities allow us to contribute positively to a wider community
