Reasons for keeping a record of my GPA
It is important to track my GPA every semester during the course of my program because it will give me an indication of how well I performed in my courses. I will be able to tell whether I did good or if not, where I fell short and need to improve. Two ramifications of having a low GPA are:
academic warning- if I attempted 12 credits or less and my cumulative GPA is under 2.0. I will have to meet with my academic advisor prior to future registration. I also won't be allowed to register for more than 9 credits (full time) or 6 credits (part time) without the written approval of my advisor.
academic probation- after receiving an academic warning, I will be placed on academic probation for any subsequent semester in which I earn a cumulative GPA of less than 2.0. While on academic probation, I will have to meet regularly with my advisor and won't be able to register for more than 6 credits (full time), or 3 credits (part time) without the written approval of my advisor.
