How the course helped to prepare me for success in my program of study
1. The FYEC 100 course prepared me for the journey ahead as I set out to complete my program of studies at COSTAATT by helping me to recognize my achievements, strengths and goal. My achievements motivate me to keep moving forward, my strengths help me to move in the right direction and my goals show me where to move. This course also taught me how to reflect and deal with my problems head on to see where I may have fallen short in my studies and also how I can use my personality type, emotional intelligence and learning preference (VARK) to assist in my individual and group learning. Additionally, it showed me how to calculate my GPA, deal with counterproductive conflict in groups, different forms of plagiarism and how to avoid it. Lastly, it taught me what services are provided by the college to assist in raising my GPA (tutorials), accessing mental help, internships, navigating the online platform and joining clubs at COSTAATT.
What was the most valuable concept to me in the course
2. The concept of GPA in FYEC 100 was most valuable to me because it explained how the college evaluates students and keeps a track of their academic progress. It also taught me how to calculate and track my GPA using my course grades, where I can find my GPA on the college's website, what my ideal GPA should be, who I can contact to query my GPA and consequences of having a bad GPA.
What was challenging in the course
3. One challenge that I faced in pursuing the FYEC 100 course was understanding what exactly each module required me to do and how I could effectively complete it. I managed to overcome this challenge by asking questions in the live classes to clarify anything that confused me and rewatching the recorded class lectures before I completed and submitted the assignments for each module.
