I attended this professional development opportunity through Phi Delta Kappa at the University of Buffalo. A panel of principals from local school districts provided insights on what they look for in a teacher candidate and how to prepare for an interview.
I read the book Teach Like Your Hair's on Fire by Rafe Esquith. This reflection includes a brief summary as well as my personal thoughts on the book and how it related to my past field experiences.
I read the book Picking Wings Off Butterflies by Scott R. Stahlecker. This reflection includes my insights from the book and how it has affected my views of students with disabilities.
This is a presentation on the implementation of comic books and graphic novels in the classroom. I created this during my graduate studies as a potential professional development opportunity. Graphic novels can be applied to any content area and are a great way to motivate those who struggle with reading and challenge higher level readers.
The above letters were written to my mentor teacher, families, and students in my pre-student teaching class at St. Gregory the Great Elementary School. The parent and student letters were sent home, including a permission slip to show their child in my videos for the edTPA. The letters provide background information on myself and my purpose in the classroom.
