Martha's Vineyard Public Schools (MVYPS) has always remained dedicated to providing research-based, relevant, and authentic professional development to its staff and educators. However, now marks a particularly important time for professional development support. The landscape of education is changing day-to-day, as are the unique challenges that our educators face. MVYPS hopes to meet the evolving needs of its staff by organizing and communicating relevant and timely high quality professional development opportunities.
This site is sponsored by Richie Smith, Ed.D., Superintendent of Schools. It provides MVYPS educators and staff a centralized resource center for ongoing professional development.

This is an MVYPS directed day that supports system-wide professional learning opportunities on topics that stem from the Superintendent's focal areas for 2024-2025, as well as building-directed learning for school teams.
8:00 - 11:00 am school-directed, principal led PD
11:00-12:00 lunch break
12:00 - 12:30 pm- Zoom with Richie- Setting the intention for professional learning 2024-2025
12:30 pm- 3:00 pm district-directed PD

This is a half day that is entirely structured around teacher-directed professional learning and development.
MVRHS- 11:00 am to 4:00 pm
K-8 Schools- 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm
PLEASE NOTE: System-wide and school-sponsored PD will be offered on these days, but teachers/staff are not contractually obligated to participate in these offerings.
