I fell in love with photography in middle school when my dad gave me a 1965 Argus camera. It had a split-image rangefinder, and I immediately became obsessed with nailing sharp focus and fine detail. I took pictures of everthing I could with this camera.
Back then, the magic happened at the local Photomat drive-through where I'd order my prints. Looking back, I feel incredibly lucky to have attended college right on the cusp of the digital revolution. I got to experiment with the earliest editing tools available, like ImagePro (before it became Photoshop 1.0), alongside Aldus PageMaker and Quark.
The sheer excitement of seeing a photo pop up on a computer screen for the first time is something I'll never forget.
