Math Olympiad for Elementary and Middle School
Since 1979 Math Olympiads for Elementary and Middle Schools (MOEMSⓇ) has been providing challenging and thought provoking mathematical problems designed to strengthen student’s mathematical skills. Participants in Math Olympiads are located in all fifty states, three US territories and in thirty foreign countries. In all, this year we have 4,061 teams and approximately 90,000 participants.
Spangler hosts two teams each year to ensure as many students can participate as are interested. Training and tests are held throughout the year and communicated via Whatsapp group. Details shared via parent square and parents of enrolled students are emailed directly with details.

Milpitas Elementary Science Olympiad
Science Olympiad is an Olympic style competition with 13 events that covers all fields of STEM (biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, technology, earth science, inquiry, and nature of science). These events can include hands-on activities, written exams, and team-based challenges that test students' knowledge and skills in subjects like biology, chemistry, physics, and engineering.
Spangler plans to host two teams this year. PTA will mentor to form a team and guide through the process. However, a very strong parent and participant involvement sets you up to face the day of the event.
