If you haven't explore colleges/campuses (virtually or in person) - Students get 1 (one) excused college visit, must provide Mrs. Damian with email or arranged tour/advisor meeting as documentation.
Narrowing down to 2-3 preferred colleges to apply to (make sure you know when applications open and deadlines - I know several have priority/early deadlines)
Make sure you have a PERSONAL email account (not Murtaugh school email address). You want to be able to have access to your accounts/logins, etc after graduation.
FAFSA, Apply Idaho, and Scholarship Idaho all open Oct 1st.
Create FSA ID (and make sure Contributor has one or creates one) to complete FAFSA.
Start applying to colleges/universities (we will do Apply Idaho - Idaho only colleges/universities) - students applying elsewhere should do it at this time as well.
Discuss with parents plan for paying for college (parent assistance, self, scholarships, grants, loans, etc)
Apply for scholarships early (local, national, and college/university level)
Apply for on-campus housing (have a plan for where you will live - these fill up quick)
Are you working on your senior project?
Has your application been completed in full (fees paid, transcripts received, etc)?
Meet with campus advisors as you are narrowing down which school you would like to go to.
Apply for school-specific scholarships
Have you finished your senior project?
Send a 7th semester transcript to the schools you applied for (Keep your grades up!)
Register for an advance registration event at the school of your choice
Prepare for priority Financial Aid deadlines (usually Feb 15 or March 1)
Be narrowing down or submitting acceptance letters of college/university you plan to attend.
Fight senioritis! Your grades still count!
Return scholarship award letters to the college's Financial Aid Office
Are you needing to defer your college/university enrollment? Contact college/universities admissions office for direction.
Did you submit a housing application?
Keep an eye on your email for scholarship acceptance letters. Many you will have to go into and ACCEPT or you will not be granted funds (Idaho LAUNCH, Idaho Opportunity, and many college/university granted scholarships).
Keep working hard. You are almost there!
If you are not passing a required class, be talking to your teachers, school counselor, and principal to make sure we have a plan.
Finish strong! Make sure you will get all needed credits and have everything for graduation!!!
