Attendance Matters Program (AMP)
At Nipmuc, we are committed to fostering a school culture where students can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Consistent attendance plays a critical role in student success, and arriving on time each day sets the tone for meaningful learning and engagement. To further support students in developing strong attendance habits, we are introducing a new initiative for the 2025-2026 school year.
The Nipmuc attendance policy has been updated to include a new program designed to support student engagement and accountability: the Attendance Matters Program (AMP).
What is AMP? The Attendance Matters Program (AMP) is a targeted intervention designed to support students who have been tardy to school more than 3 times per term. AMP takes place during breaks on Wednesdays and Fridays and focuses on building positive habits, fostering accountability, and helping students start their school day successfully.
Through AMP, students will:
Reflect on the challenges that contribute to being late.
Set goals to improve punctuality and establish consistent morning routines.
Connect with the school counseling team for ongoing support and check-ins.
AMP provides a structured opportunity for students to take ownership of their attendance, improve time-management skills, and create a plan that promotes success in school and beyond.
Additionally, as part of the AMP programming, if a student exceeds 6 tardies in a term, a collaborative meeting of the student, caregivers, and the school counselors will be held to develop a specific plan to help the student find success.
This adjustment in the policy’s language will not include any changes to ineligibility for extracurricular activities and athletics. Students who are dismissed from school or tardy (unexcused) are still ineligible to participate in after-school activities for that day. Please note that four or more tardies will continue to result in loss of eligibility for extracurricular activities/athletics for the day of the tardy.
