Career development programming at Nipmuc Regional High School is an integral part of students' educational journey. Beginning in ninth and tenth grades, all students actively engage in comprehensive lessons and activities, utilizing Naviance and other search tools during classes and advisory sessions. The focus is on self-discovery, helping students understand their strengths and interests. Through interactive activities and guidance, students learn how to translate these insights into potential career paths. The program not only equips them with essential skills for future success but also empowers them to make informed decisions about their academic and professional pathways.
As part of our commitment to providing practical insights into career pathways, sophomores at Nipmuc participate in a spring Career Shadow Day. This initiative serves as a hands-on extension of the career development programming they've engaged in during their first two years. By spending a day immersed in a real-world work environment, students gain valuable experience directly tied to their academic exploration.
As students progress into their junior and senior years, they learn to formulate strategic plans that encompass educational choices, skill development, and networking opportunities. The goal is to equip them with the tools and insights needed to confidently navigate their journey from high school to their chosen profession.
Students planning to go directly into the work force, specific job training programs, or the military after high school should consider some of the Career Pathways below as they make plans for the future.
