DATA COLLECTION AND PRESENTATION
Introduction:
In this topic, you will learn different types of data, data collection methods, presentation and analysis.
EXAMPLE
1. The learners in a class were asked there Favourite science subjects
(b) A bar chart
A bar chart or bar graph is a chart or graph that presents categorical data with rectangular bars with heights or lengths proportional to the values that they represent
(c) Line graph
A line graph displays data that changes continuously over periods of time.
(d)A piechart
A piechart is acircular statistical graphic, which is divided into slices to illustrate numerical proportion. In a piechart, the arc length of each slice, is proportional to the quantity it represents.
To illustrate the data with a piechart, You need to first find out the angle for each learner
From the data we can see that:
The Favourite subject for the learners is Mathematics. (This is called the mode.)
The least liked subject is chemistry.
9.2 Exercise Set
Activity of Integration
The Games Master at your school wants to buy football boots for the three teams in the school. The three teams are the under 18years, under16yearsandtheunder14years. The Games Master does not know the foot size for each of the players.
Support: pens, paper, tape measure, team members.
Resources: Knowledge of tabulation, of tallying, of approximation, of central measures and of collection of suitable data.
Task: The total number of players for the three teams is54. The Game Master wants to know the size of the boots for each player and the number of pairs for each size. Explain how the Games Master will get there required data and how to determine the total cost for buying the football boots for the 54 players. Is there another way of getting the required data other than what you have explained above?
