a) ACIDS

An acid is any substance that, in water solution, tastes sour, changes blue litmus paper to red, and reacts with bases to form salts. Acids are characterized by their ability to donate hydrogen ions (H⁺) or protons to other substances, resulting in a pH less than 7.

material; banana peel ash extract, lemon juice, vinegar, table salt, sugar, yoghurt, baking powder, green mango.

What to do

·Taste each substance provided and record your result as shown on the table below.

·Take a small amount (or drop) of each sample and feel it between your fingers by rubbing.
