a) ACIDS
An acid is any substance that, in water solution, tastes sour, changes blue litmus paper to red, and reacts with bases to form salts. Acids are characterized by their ability to donate hydrogen ions (H⁺) or protons to other substances, resulting in a pH less than 7.
