About us

STEP (Sex trafficking direct service providers) is a subcommittee of the Multnomah County Sex Trafficking Collaborative. STEP is made up of community based non-profits who support individuals who have experienced sex trafficking. The group was formed in response to a grant, but has continued to meet beyond the duration of the grant funding.

The goal of this team is to bring together community providers to better enhance and coordinate our services to support those who have experienced sex trafficking.

Current Priorities:

  • Prevention,

  • Decriminalization, and

  • Reducing barriers

Current Initiatives:

This team consists of Call to Safety, El Programa Hispano Unica, IRCO, Lifeworks NW, New Avenues for Youth (NAFY), Parenting with Intent (PWI), Raphael House of Portland, Safety Compass, Self Enhancement Inc. (SEI), Multnomah County Department of Community Justice (DCJ) Crime Victim Services Unit (VSU), and Multnomah County Department of County Human Services (DCHS), Youth & Family Services Division (YFS), Volunteers of America Home Free, and El Programa Hispano-UNICA. The STEP team meets on the third Wednesday of every month.
