TOOLS
Our collaboration has developed tools you can use to reduce barriers for survivors with disabilities who may be seeking services from your organization. We have also provided links to tools from other resources you may find helpful or informative.
Policy and Procedure Review Tool
We believe the policies and procedures that guide your work can provide a foundation for safety, welcoming, and accessibility for survivors with disabilities. The policy and procedure review tool can be used to help you review your existing organizational policies and procedures to make sure they keep accessibility and people with disabilities in mind, while still supporting your organization.
Are you interested in having one of our Open Doors collaboration experts review your organization's policy and/or procedure for accessibility? While our policy and procedure tool can help, our team is always happy to provide an additional final review. Contact Alix Sanchez to get in touch with one of our Open Doors members who can assist with policy reviews.
Sample Policies and Procedures
The links below will allow you to view and download sample domestic & sexual violence program policies and procedures that have been created by Open Doors workgroups for accessibility. These policies are intended for the use of Multnomah County domestic & sexual violence and disability organizations. While these policies serve as a starting point, we recommend that each organization tailor the policies to fit the needs of their own organization.
Sample: Accommodations Policy and Procedure
Sample: Informed Consent, Confidentiality, Breach of Confidentiality, Release of Information

Safety and Access Review Tool
This is our Open Doors Safety and Access review tool. You can use it to assess the accessibility of your shelter, building, or office.
This tool was originally created by WEAVE of Kent County, Michigan (pages 11-95). It has been adapted for use in Multnomah County, Oregon.

Training and Education
Open Doors hosted a series of "Connectors" meetings as well as other trainings, intended to focus on our connection and work. The Youtube links for three of our Connectors meetings are below. Open Doors also built connections with a variety of community partners that provided valuable training and education for the domestic & sexual violence continuum in Multnomah County.
Is your organization interested in receiving training on topics surrounding domestic & sexual violence and disability?
