Grades 9–10 GEx June Programme Overview

The Grades 9–10 GEx June programme is a required, combined experiential learning experience for all Grade 9 and 10 students. Taking place in June, this programme brings students together across grade levels for a shared week of learning beyond the classroom, building on the foundations developed through Middle School GEx and supporting the transition into Senior School global citizenship learning.

The programme focuses on applied global citizenship through meaningful local engagement and domestic travel experiences. Students learn with community partners rather than about them, connecting classroom learning to real-world social, cultural, and environmental contexts.

Learning is guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Mulgrave’s commitments to DEIJ, with strong connections to the Grade 10 Global Citizenship course. Through structured preparation, hands-on experiences, and reflection, students develop collaboration, empathy, leadership, and a deeper understanding of their role within local and global communities.

Registration & Programme Selection
Registration for June travel-based GEx programmes is due by the end of September. Registration for local GEx June programme options is due by the end of January, at which point placements will be made. Please see below for the list of domestic travel and local programme options once they become available.

The Grades 9–10 GEx June programme strengthens inter-grade relationships, builds independence and responsibility, and prepares students for future GEx opportunities, including optional international experiences and leadership pathways in Senior School.
