The effective use of digital technology can assist educators in differentiating and personalizing learning; provide flexibility in scheduling and pace; and provide multiple entry points for students to engage in learning. Access to technological hardware and Internet connectivity remain essential areas of focus.
Regardless of whether onsite, remote, or hybrid model are utilized, the District will provide each student with a Chromebook and each teacher with a Laptop.
The district will assist students in obtaining reliable access to high-speed internet at a sufficient level to fully participate in remote instruction (e.g., a hotspot).
The District will survey parents/guardians to determine their level of high-speed internet access at their place of residence. District social workers will assist families who need access to high-speed internet.
The District will provide instruction to students to build digital fluency.
The District will ensure student data privacy and security will be maintained and that the school and/or district are in compliance with Federal and State laws related to student technology use, including NY Education Law 2-d and Part 121 of the Commissioner’s Regulations.
The Canvas Learning Management System (LMS) has been adopted as the single platform to be used in any model (onsite, hybrid, or remote).
Teachers use the Canvas LMS to:
Post and collect assignments
Communicate due dates, assessment dates, and project dates
Post course resources such as class materials, slide decks, etc. as appropriate
Host Zoom sessions
Teachers dedicate time during the first week of school to provide students with explicit training in Canvas.
