Our reopening of schools plan is based on the guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) New York State Department of Health (DOH) and the New York State Education Department (SED) and importantly, on the work of the Manhasset Schools Reopening Task Force.
The Task Force, made up of over 200 students, parents, teachers, administrators, staff and community members, has developed three models of instruction.
These models of instruction are:
a full return of all students to their school building,
a Hybrid Model of Instruction (a combination of onsite instruction and remote instruction), and
a fully Remote Instruction Model.
Our focus continues to be to have our students, faculty and staff safely return to their school building every single day. We are aware that this can only be done with great care for the health and safety of our school community. The realities of this pandemic require us all to continue to be flexible and require our instructional models to allow for the fluid transfer throughout the school year between onsite/hybrid instruction and remote instruction.
The District will communicate via its website, phone blasts, e-mails, and social media. All communications will be placed on the website which provides translation in the languages spoken at home and has accessibility features for those with visual and hearing impairments and in the languages spoken at home.
The work of the Task Force was based on the following Guiding Ideas:
Establish protocols to ensure the safe return of students and adults to the physical school buildings.
Ensure that any instructional model that is proposed allows us to complete the entire breadth of the curriculum.
Ensure equitable access to the curriculum, instruction and support.
Ensure that the various instructional models allow for the fluid transition between a full return of all students to their school building, a Hybrid Model of Instruction (a combination of onsite instruction and remote instruction), and a fully Remote Instruction Model.
