Week of May 25

This week on Tuesday and Wednesday we will using using the Arrow Method also known as "Arrow Way". If you would like to complete 1-2 of the problems using the vertical method for practice - Go For It! It's good practice.

Thursday is Virtual Field Trip to the Atlanta Aquarium! No Math assignment!!!!!

On Friday you will be completing a SPRINT! Remember 1 min and 1 sec is all you get - so do the best you can!!!

Happy Monday

This week we will be taking off out subtraction hats and putting on our addition hats!!

For Lesson 29 and 30 we will be practicing some addition tools we have learned and also adding a new Method of addition - Totals Below!!! See the DIRECTIONS SHEET listed below.

NOTE: If totals below is problematic for your child, have them give it a try, and then allow them to use the vertical method (also known as New Groups Below) for some of the assignments. Answers to BOTH methods are on the Answer keys I will email to you.

On Friday you will be completing a SPRINT! Use the Sprint book I delivered and have someone time you!!! Remember 1 min and 1 sec is all you get - so do the best you can!!!

When you are working on the word problems, be sure to read the whole problem, then read it "line by line", draw a tape diagram, solve the problem (use a HTO chart), and don’t forget your “Levi” sentence!

Hello My Fabulous Students!

We are moving on with the next few lessons. We will be working on subtraction with and without regrouping!

For Lesson 23, one of the skills we will be dusting off is Number Bond Subtraction. We have used this “tool” before. Here are the rules we used:

Number Bond Subtraction

1. Take 100

2. What’s left over?

3. Do the 100s subtraction.

4. Add up what’s left!

Give it a try! There are two problems completed in your Math Book to help! If you have a difficult time with Number Bond Subtraction, give vertical subtraction a try!

For Lesson 24, you will be using our handy dandy HUNDREDS, TENS, and ONES CHART for page 1!! When you are working on the word problems on page 2, be sure to read the whole problem, then read it "line by line", draw a tape diagram, solve the problem (use a HTO chart), and don’t forget your “Levi” sentence! (If you would like – you can use vertical subtraction for 1-2 problems!)
