First Grade Writing Units:

Caring Notes: Provide paper and crayons/markers to draw a picture or write a letter to someone your child cares about. This could be a friend, family member, or a teacher!

Window Notes: Write and color kind messages on sheets of paper and tape them on your windows or doors. Brighten up the days of those who walk by!

What a Trip!: Write a story about a trip your family took or one you'd like to take!

What's For Lunch?: Draw and label your idea of a yummy healthy lunch!

Learn your Address: Practice writing it on a sheet of paper & saying it aloud. Write a letter for a friend or relative and write your return address!

Lowercase Love: Write all the lowercase letters neatly, facing the right way, and on the correct lines!

Playdough Story: Use playdough and other materials like blocks and dominos to build different animals. Then write a story about the animals you created, or take a picture of it and send to a relative!

Scrabble: Play a game of Scrabble, and have a dictionary handy for those words you aren't sure about!

Boggle: Play a game of Boggle, and have a dictionary ready for those words you aren't sure about!

Poems: Write a poem for a friend or family member!
