John Behan, 53, began serving as superintendent in March of 1970 and was involved in the planning and building of the township’s first high school. Behan was present when awarding diplomas to the first graduating class of Manchester Township High School in June 1977. Behan was known as a warm friend, and received the highest respect from everyone in the community. Before becoming a superintendent, he taught seventh and eighth grade classes along with being an assistant vice principal in other districts. Behan passed away on November 13, 1977 due to cancer, and will forever be appreciated and remembered.
