11th Grade Checklist
In order to be well prepared for "life after high school," listed below are some key steps you should be focusing on in the 11th grade. The Career Center has a variety of resources and access to programs that can help you in all of these areas:
Gather information about yourself
Explore what’s out there
Put together a plan
Continue to share your post-high school plans with your parents - Let them know what interests you. Talk to them about where you will get the training needed for the types of occupations you are most interested in.
Career Exploration
Take the self assessments within Homeroom. These questionnaires are a good place to begin your career exploration, especially if you are unsure about your future career goals. Based on information you provide, these questionnaires will suggest careers for further exploration. Here are the instructions on how to log into Homeroom.

Search the career on YouTube. A great way to learn from people in the industry and career is to watch videos on it. For example, search "A day in the life of ______ "
Take a personality test. www.16personalities.com is a free, short personality tests that analyzes your personal traits. You can learn about yourself, your motivation, strengths and weaknesses, friendships, career paths, workplace habits and more.

Planning for further education:
Research schools.
Talk to the career specialist or high school counselor and receive a “To Do” list for this year.
Planning to go directly into the workforce:
Know the skills required for the work I’m seeking.
Know the educational requirements for the job I’m seeking.
Take high school classes that can give me necessary job skills.
Take the general college placement test in the spring of my junior year.
Planning to go into an Apprenticeship program :
Know who the top employers are for the type of work I’m seeking.
Have three people other than relatives that can write letters of recommendations for me.
TECHNICAL TRAINING Student Checklist
Researched careers.
Know what Technical Degree are required for my career of interest.
Researched schools that offer my Technical Degree.
Checked to see if there are pre-requisite courses to complete BEFORE entry into the program.
Checked to see if any of the College in the High School courses offered at MBHS are needed for my program.
Researched potential wage and job availability for this career.
Took the practice assessment test in the spring of my junior year.
Taking classes at MBHS that will prepare me for college.
Researched scholarship opportunities.
Have three people other than relatives who can write letters of recommendations for me.
Documented my school and community involvement.
TRANSFER DEGREE Student Checklist
Researched colleges.
Checked to see if any of the colleges I am interested in are part of the WUE program.
Took the practice assessment test in the spring of my junior year.
Taking classes at MBHS that will prepare me for college.
Scheduled to take SAT or ACT tests by June.
Completed College in the High School paperwork on time if I took MBHS classes that count for college credit.
Researched scholarship opportunities.
Researched the schools I would like to eventually transfer to.
Researched which majors interest me the most.
Know the requirements if I plan to play competitive sports; check with community college coaches.

MILITARY Student Checklist
If you plan to attend an Academy or ROTC program students should:
Research Academies and colleges with ROTC programs.
Take SAT or ACT test (be sure when you register to have your scores sent to the Academies or ROTC programs).
Send away for application packets.
**There are many steps to completing an application to an Academy or ROTC program. Please make sure that you have met with your counselor and have ALL of the required information.
If you plan to enter the military as Enlisted Personnel:
Research military occupations.
Meet with recruiters
·Take the ASVAB test and be sure to release your scores to the Military.
