Describe your research to a general audience.
My research interests lie both in the laboratory setting as well as the class room. Primarily, I am focused on bone healing and development. Most of my experience is centered on osteoclasts and how commonly prescribed drugs interact with them. This has been done in both histological studies as well as cell culture. Drugs of interest are SSRIs, Manzamine A, and Nicotine.
Secondarily, I am currently developing a Course Based Undergraduate Research Experience (CURE) in laboratory methods in anatomy. This course will focus on exposing undergraduate level students to primary literature and improving their overall understanding of the methodology of the experimental design.
What do you enjoy about research?
The most exciting part about research is knowing that every result, no matter how small or unexpected is adding to the overall knowledge we have about a given topic.
What would you like to share with the MAC community?
I would like to use this section to thank all of the faculty at MAC. I believe that that small classes and frequent interactions with professors allowed me to transition into my graduate programs with ease.
Thank you, Tyler, for sharing your research!
