About Us
Mindanao State University - General Santos City (MSU-GSC) is deeply committed to supporting and advancing the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). As a public higher education institution located in one of the most dynamic regions in the Philippines, MSU-GSC recognizes its critical role in driving inclusive and sustainable development.
Through a multidisciplinary approach that integrates research, instruction, extension, and innovation, MSU-GSC actively aligns its institutional strategies and community-based initiatives with the 17 SDGs. The university fosters collaboration across academic disciplines and local sectors to address pressing global challenges such as poverty alleviation, quality education, climate action, gender equality, and sustainable economic growth.
MSU-GSC promotes SDG-oriented education by embedding sustainability concepts across its curricula, cultivating responsible citizenship and future-ready graduates. SDG Policy
Policy Statement:
Mindanao State University – General Santos City (MSU-GSC) is committed to transformative development through the integration of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into its academic, research, extension, and operational frameworks. Anchored on the principle of transformation, this policy aims to position the university as a proactive agent of change—fostering inclusive, equitable, and sustainable growth within the region and beyond.
Purpose:
This policy serves as a framework for embedding the SDGs into the core functions of MSU-GSC, with a focused commitment to transformation—in institutional systems, societal impact, and individual development. It seeks to cultivate a university culture that embraces innovation, sustainability, and social justice as pillars of long-term change.
Scope:
This policy applies to all colleges, academic programs, research centers, administrative units, faculty, staff, students, and community stakeholders involved in the planning, execution, and evaluation of university initiatives.
Key Goal: Transformation
At the heart of this policy is the goal of transformation—transforming knowledge into action, communities into sustainable ecosystems, learners into responsible leaders, and institutional systems into models of sustainability and resilience.

Transformative Education:
Integrate SDG concepts into curricula across disciplines to develop globally competent, sustainability-oriented graduates who are agents of change.
Research for Impact:
Promote research that generates innovative, evidence-based solutions to address urgent local and global challenges aligned with the SDGs.
Empowered Communities:
Engage with communities through participatory, capacity-building projects that foster resilience, social equity, and environmental sustainability.
Sustainable Campus Transformation:
Advance campus sustainability through green infrastructure, resource-efficient systems, and eco-conscious policies.
Inclusive and Participatory Governance:
Establish mechanisms for inclusive decision-making and continuous dialogue among stakeholders to ensure that SDG initiatives are community-driven and results-oriented.
Strategic Partnerships for Transformation:
Strengthen collaborations with government agencies, NGOs, industries, and other academic institutions to leverage resources and co-create sustainable solutions.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Transparency:
Implement a results-based management system to track progress, assess outcomes, and communicate the university’s contributions to the SDGs with transparency and accountability.
Implementation:
The Office of the Chancellor shall designate an SDG Transformation Task Force to spearhead policy implementation, facilitate interdepartmental coordination, and provide technical support for SDG integration. Each academic and administrative unit shall incorporate SDG priorities into their annual operational plans.
Review and Continuous Development:
This policy will be reviewed every three (3) years or as needed to respond to evolving global challenges, institutional goals, and national development priorities.
Effectivity:
This policy shall take effect immediately upon its approval by the MSU-GSC Executive Council and dissemination to all university units and stakeholders.
