Objectives

• Identify the aorta and distinguish it from the IVC

• Describe what findings on an aorta scan would indicate further work-up or emergent situation

• Screen patients for AAA

• Identify the IVC and distinguish it from the aorta.

• Describe why you would want to scan for the IVC

• Discuss the clinical relevance of various findings on an IVC scan and their limitations

• Obtain venous access both peripherally and centrally using US-guided techniques
