My name is Kari Seymour and I am a middle school Spanish teacher certified in both Ohio and Oklahoma; I am currently teaching 6th grade Spanish in Oklahoma City.
I began taking Spanish in 6th grade (which is part of the reason my heart is in teaching middle school!) and continued through high school and college. During my junior year at Ohio Wesleyan University in 2016, I spent a semester studying at La Universidad de Salamanca in Salamanca, Spain where I attended classes, lived with the most wonderful host family, explored the city, and travelled on the weekends. One of my favorite memories in Salamanca is discovering Croissantería París, a croissant shop, that I visited each day after and got to know the owner and his family.
Upon returning to Ohio Wesleyan, I completed my student teaching, graduated with a degree in Spanish and education, and accepted my first teaching position at a 7/8 middle school in Dayton, Ohio where I taught for four years before moving to Oklahoma City in 2022.
After my second year of teaching, I began pursuing a Master's of Art in Foreign Language Teaching through the MAFLT Program at Michigan State University. I had and continue to foster a desire to be an effective language teacher which is what drove my desire to pursue this degree. Completing this program while also teaching the classroom has been extremely rewarding as I have been able to implement what I am learning in the MAFLT Program in my classroom. This portfolio website showcases my growth throughout the MAFLT Program by including a collection of work completed during the program.
