Geometry Competencies in FLEX
Geometry Competencies in FLEX
Questions & Analysis
I can ask relevant questions to guide my learning, analyze data and apply abstract reasoning to help gain insight to questions asked.
G.CO.A.5
I can demonstrate the ability to rotate, reflect or translate a figure, and determine a possible sequence of transformations between two congruent figures.
G.CO.D.11
I can construct geometric figures using various tools and methods.
G.CP.A
I can understand independence and conditional probability and use them to interpret data.
Evidence Based Thinking
I can support claims with appropriate and relevant evidence. As new evidence comes to light I can adapt my understanding.
G.CO.C.10
Prove theorems about polygons.
G.GPE.B.3
Use coordinates to prove geometric theorems algebraically.
Communicate Effectively
I can communicate effectively in multiple formats, across competencies, with consistency.
G.MG.A.3
Apply geometric methods to solve design mathematical modeling problems.
Critical Thinking & Researching
I can exhibit critical thinking skills and conduct research using a diverse range of credible sources.
G.CO.B.6
I can develop the definition of congruence in terms of rigid motions.
G.SRT.B.4
Use congruence and similarity criteria for triangles to solve problems and to prove relationships in geometric figures.
Real World Connections
I can make connections between course materials and the real world and demonstrate the relevance of what is learned in school.
G.SRT.C.7
I can use trigonometric ratios and the Pythagorean Theorem to solve right triangles and model real world problems.
G.MG.A.3
I can use volume formulas for cylinders, pyramids, cones, spheres and composite figures to solve and model real world situations.
Learning Habits
I can complete coursework in a timely manner, meet grade level expectations, and maintain a focus on learning by being reflective and exhibiting a growth mindset.
LH.1
I can complete coursework independently, in a timely manner, and meet grade level expectations.
LH.2
I can contribute individually to the overall collaborative efforts with my team in a timely manner.
LH.3
I can maintain a focus on learning by being reflective and exhibiting a growth mindset.
Notes:
Skill competencies will require multiple pieces of evidence throughout the year. It’s not a one and done expectation.
If you don’t score as well as you’d like on an assignment, you may have another chance to demonstrate proficiency or higher on a later assignment that assesses the same competency. Or, you may be able to revise. Ask your teacher.
If you think an assignment could serve as a piece of evidence for one of these competencies, ask your teacher and make a case for why it should be considered evidence.
