In Nearpod 301, I show you some of the features and settings that you need to know about to get the most out of Nearpod. We'll talk about managing your library of lessons, launching activities on the spot without pre-making or selecting them, and some of the features that come with having a paid Nearpod account.

In Nearpod 201, I will be showing you how you can go beyond pre-made lessons to make your own lessons to engage your students and track their learning. We'll dive into using a few of the many types of activities that you can create in a Nearpod lesson, as well as examine some of the different supports you can enable to support struggling learners.

In Nearpod 101, I will be introducing you to the basics of Nearpod, including creating your account, viewing lessons from both the teacher and the student sides, sampling some of the many activities you can use with students, and tracking student progress through live look-ins and post-session reports.

For Grades Pre-K - 2
The primary reason for getting the Apple TVs was so that you could mirror your iPad to your TVs/projectors, but what else can you do with them? In this session, we'll go over the basics of the Apple TV, including why you need that second remote, how you can use your Apple ID on both your iPad and Apple TV, and adding apps that reduce the need to screen mirror at all.
I strongly recommend that you have an Apple ID set up with your school email prior to this session. If you're not sure how to do this, please check out this how-to for guidance.

In any case, join me on Zoom, bring your devices and your questions, and I'll see what I can do to help. This session will focus primarily on the iPad and Apple TVs that were recently distributed, but I will see what I can do to help in other areas as well.

Screencastify is a Chrome extension that you can use to record your screen, webcam, and microphone. Providing visual examples are an important tool to help students and staff learn, so this session shows you how we can use Screencastify to create videos that help explain what you are trying to teach.

For Pre-K - Grade 2
The Activity Library in Seesaw is a wonderful place where educators like you have shared tons of activities and resources, ready to assign to your students right out of the box. But what if you can't find an activity for the content you want to teach? In this session, we discuss the basics of creating your own activities, including design, writing directions, interactivity, and accessibility.
With Screencastify, we can record videos and Screencasts on our Chromebooks to help us teach new things to our students. Sometimes, it is not possible to record everything in one take, or you may want to combine clips from multiple screencasts into a single video. With the video editor in Screencastify, you can do all this, and more! This session discusses the basics of Screencastify, as well as how to use the various features of the video editor to make the most of your screencast videos!
Zoom is an incredibly powerful tool, but sometimes finding the features and settings you want can be difficult. During this session, we'll talk about finding and using some features you might know, some you might not, and how to make the most out of the Zoom experience. Topics will include Scheduling Zoom sessions, including recurring ones; Google Calendar integration, settings, differences across various platforms, and more.
You just got your iPad (hopefully!). Now what? In this session, we will take a tour of your new device and talk about some ways to get it running just the way you want. Topics include: Configuring your home screen, creating app folders, multitasking, and more.
Pre-K - 2 students in MSAD 52 will all be receiving an iPad to assist with distance learning. This video will show you what students will see on their devices.
The Math Learning Center has a variety of applications that can be used to show mathematical thinking virtually and from a distance. From place value to fractions, and money to time, there are lots of ways to show mathematical thinking that, when paired with screen recording tools and shared through Seesaw or Google Classroom, can expand your suite of tools for teaching math virtually while providing students an opportunity to show what they know. This session covers a number of these apps, which can be used on just about any Internet-connected device.
Showing students what is on your screen is a critically important tool in virtual learning from a distance, as we teach and model what students need to learn and be able to do with technology from a distance. This session focuses on introducing a wide variety of screen capturing tools across multiple operating systems and devices so that you can take pictures and record videos of your screen to share with your students.
During this training, I discussed the basics of using Seesaw to connect and learn with students and families. Participants learned how to create their accounts, set up their classes, add and connect with students and parents, and use Seesaw to teach and document student learning.
