Q: When will school begin teaching math in English?
哪時候會開始以英文授課?
For grade 7 ~ 8, if EVERY student is ready to learn math in English, we will start teaching math in English. This is designed to achieve students most and enhance students’ math abilities.
For grade 9 ~ 10, we will divide students into different group according to their English ability so they can learn math in appropriate language.
針對7~8年級的學生,如果每位同學都準備好用英語來學習,我們就會以英文來教數學。這樣做的目的是為了讓學生能夠達到最佳的成就,並提升他們的數學能力。
針對9~10年級的學生,我們會根據他們的英語能力將他們分成不同的班別,這樣他們就能用合適的語言來學習數學。
Q: How will the four criteria be evaluated?
如何評分四個標準?
In MDID, we usually have examinations for criteria A and B, and have projects for criteria C and D.
Criterion A: Knowing and understanding, mostly evaluated through classic paper-and-pencil tests.
Criterion B: Investigating patterns, listening to the teacher’s instruction to find patterns and show patterns.
Criterion C: Communicating. Focus on two parts: speaking and writing. We focus: Are the right symbols used? Are the correct terms chosen? Can you explain your thoughts clearly? Is there a good structure?
Criterion D: Applying mathematics in real-life contexts The main things we focus on are: Can you pick the right mathematical methods or models? Can you use math correctly?
在國際部,我們通常會以紙筆測驗作為標準A及B的評量方式;另外標準C及D則是透過專題研究。
標準A: 知識與理解,主要以傳統紙筆測驗評分。
標準B: 發現規律,依循老師的引導發現規律、論證規律。
標準C: 溝通表達,分為口說和寫作兩個部份,主要觀察重點:是否使用正確符號?是否使用正確術語?是否能夠清楚說理?是否有組織架構?
標準D: 生活應用,將數學活用於生活情境之中,通常是報告,主要觀察重點:是否能夠選擇適當數學方法或模型?是否能夠正確運用數學?
Q: What type of assessment is being used?
測驗的形式有哪些?
Assessment is criterion-related, focusing on four key areas:
Criterion A: Knowing and understanding, mostly evaluated through classic paper-and-pencil tests.
Criterion B: Investigating patterns, listening to the teacher’s instruction to find patterns and show patterns, mostly evaluated through classic paper-and-pencil tests or guiding inquiry project.
Criterion C: Communicating. Focus on two parts: speaking and writing mostly in video with slides (grade 7 ~ 8) or in essay (grade 9 ~ 10). It is usually combined with criterion D. We focus: Are the right symbols used? Are the correct terms chosen? Can you explain your thoughts clearly? Is there a good structure?
Criterion D: Applying mathematics in real-life contexts mostly in video with slides (grade 7 ~ 8) or in essay (grade 9 ~ 10). The main things we focus on are: Can you pick the right mathematical methods or models? Can you use math correctly?
評估的重點在於四個主要領域:
標準 A:知識與理解。主要是透過傳統的紙筆測驗來評估。
標準B:觀察規律。根據老師的指導來尋找規律。主要是透過傳統的紙筆測驗或研究報告來進行評估。
標準 C:使用數學語言。(7 至 8 年級)口語和寫作主要以投影片或(9 至 10 年級)論文的形式進行。通常與標準 D 結合。我們重視的是學生是否正確使用術語?能清楚地表達想法嗎?結構是否良好?
標準 D:在日常生活中運用數學。主要是透過投影片(7 至 8 年級)或論文(9 至 10 年級)。我們重視的主要問題是:你能選擇適合的數學方法或模組嗎?你能正確地使用數學嗎?

Proactively ask the teacher for advanced math problems related to the current chapter.

主動向老師詢問與目前章節相關的高等數學問題。
幫助同學輔導,提升自己的理解力和溝通能力。

Q: How to get better in math? (if students get less or equal to 3 in Criterion A or final grade)
如何提升數學程度?(學生的標準A分數或是期末分數為低於或等於3分)
Pay close attention in class and take diligent notes.
Review regularly after class and correct mistakes—this is crucial.
Prepare thoroughly before exams.
Reflect on areas for improvement after exams.
Don’t hesitate to ask questions—reach out to your teacher or classmates if you need help.
上課時認真聽講,仔細做筆記。
課後定期複習和糾正錯誤,這一點非常重要。
考試前做好充分準備。
考試後思考一下有那些需要改進的地方。

練習題的部分我們在課堂上皆有發下,也讓學生在課堂上做足夠的練習與討論。
We hand out all the exercises in class and give students plenty of time to work on them and discuss.
