WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL!
Hello!! I hope you all had an enjoyable and relaxing summer. We were busy checking things off of our summer bucket list, many...many baseball games, many visits to the pool and visiting a lot of family and friends!
I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself. My name is Mrs. Julie Wilds. I am very excited to start my 21st year of teaching fifth grade. I taught 5th grade at St. Stephen the Martyr for 10 years. I graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with my degree in Elementary Education and a minor in mathematics education. I graduated in 2018 with my master's degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Doane University. My husband, Brendan, and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary this past summer. He is a behavioral specialist at the University of Iowa. We have a 16-year-old son, Owen, and a 12 year-old son, Liam. Owen is a sophomore at Millard North. He loves playing tennis, watching movies, and hanging out with friends. Liam is a 6th grader at Millard North Middle. Currently, Liam enjoys playing baseball, tackle football, and basketball.
I can say that I truly enjoy my job. I look forward to what each new day might bring. I am committed to helping your child reach his/her full potential and to be successful academically, socially, and emotionally! I want to know how your child thinks and how you see your child as a learner and as a person. I feel strongly in helping students build a classroom community and they are valued!
Teaching is truly something that I put my heart into. I believe that your child deserves a teacher who is willing to give them respect and patience. In turn, I desire the same respect and cooperation from your child. I am looking forward to a great year, getting to know and learn with your child.
I will have a firm communication base with you and your family, as you are your child’s first teacher. Thank you so much for your support! At the end of each week, we will update the section of this website titled WEEKLY NEWSLETTER. Please check this regularly and use it as a reference to what your child will be studying in all subject areas. It will also provide reminders as well as information regarding upcoming tests, quizzes, and projects.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me. My e-mail address is jawilds@mpsomaha.org!
Thank you,
Mrs. Wilds
