Welcome back to a fabulous fall! As the start of the year comes around the questions of who will my child have as a teacher naturally arises. I want to take this opportunity to tell you a little bit about myself.
As you know, my name is Danielle Anderson, and I will be your child’s fifth grade teacher. I grew up in Millard, and actually opened Willowdale as a 2nd grader! I graduated from Millard West and attended the University of Northern Iowa on a volleyball scholarship. I received a dual degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from UNI. After graduating, I was accepted into the CADRE program at the University of Nebraska at Omaha and received my Masters of Science with an emphasis on Behavioral Disorders. This is my 18th year teaching. My husband Erik and I were married in April 2012, and we have three children, EJ (12), Mila (9), and Jude (7).
I am a very driven person, who loves to push myself and my students to succeed. I emphasize responsibility, holding yourself accountable, and being a member of a classroom community in my classroom. I feel every child has a voice and deserves to feel and be a valued member of our classroom community. To be a valued member, your child will have a role to play that will push them to be independent, organized, and responsible especially when it comes to neatness and homework. I believe with high expectations, every child can and will achieve greatness.
As the year progresses you will have many opportunities to learn more about me and I hope to get to know each of you better too. You are my BEST resource to your child and as a dedicated team your child will have a successful fifth grade year. If there is anything that I can do for you, please feel free to let me know. I can be reached here at Willowdale through telephone or email. Please feel free to call or email me at anytime you have questions or concerns. I look forward to a great year!
