Welcome back! As we begin our new school year, you may be wondering who your child is going to have as his/her teacher. SO…let me go ahead and answer some or hopefully all of your questions.
My name is Michelle Hallett. This is my fifth year at Willowdale but am not new to Millard or to teaching. I have been a teacher in Millard for 28 years. I have taught at several Millard schools and have taught everything from PE/Music in a Montessori building, to Pre-School-Fifth grade. The only grade I have not taught is fourth!
I attend school in Millard from Kindergarten to high school. I graduated from Millard North! I then attended UNO where I got my degree in Elementary Education with a specialization in Early Childhood. I then did online classes through Peru State where I received my Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.
I am married to my husband Tim, who also is a Millard graduate and we have two grown children. My son Nick is 27 and he will be getting married this December in Charleston, SC. My daughter, Anna, is currently a 4th grade teacher at Black Elk.I think my passion for my job and my love of teaching may have rubbed off on her.
I LOVE TO HAVE FUN AND LAUGH! My goal is to help your student find some fun and joy while also learning. I want to make sure that your child is gaining the necessary skills he/she needs to be not only successful in school, but also in life. This includes: responsibility, accountability and being a positive, contributing member in our classroom. I want your child to feel they are cared for while they are at school and to know they have an important role to play in our “school family”
I believe routines are very important in helping kids stay organized. I also think routines help students feel more comfortable as this way they know what to expect from me. I also have very high expectations for my students. I believe kids can do more than we give them credit for and if we set the bar high, they can achieve anything!
I am beyond excited to start this school year with you and your child. I believe that you and I can make this a great year for your child by working together and being partners in his/her education. This means we need to have open communication and work together if issues arise. Please feel free to reach out to me if you have questions or concerns that come up. The best way to reach me is my email: mahalle@mpsomaha.org. You can also call Willowdale and leave me a message.
I am looking forward to a great school year! Go Wildcats!
