Morning Meetings in MPS

Many of our teachers have been trained in Responsive Classroom training. One structure from this training is Morning Meeting. Although many of the teachers who have been trained are in the elementary, secondary teachers can use Morning Meeting as a way to engage students in social, emotional, and academic learning. How could you use this structure in your classroom?

Winter NWEA MAP Data and the Data Conversation Tool

Soon, we will have access to winter NWEA MAP data for our students. This is a great opportunity to check-in on student progress.

Common questions you may have at this point are:

  • How are my students progressing towards their projected Spring RIT score?

  • What do I do if a student hits their end-of-year goal by winter?

  • What instructional shifts might I make second semester to target student growth?

  • How do I use MAP data to inform me about NSCAS?

  • Now that I have two data points, what are the reports I can use to leverage this information?

    • How might this information on growth impact my instructional decisions?

If you have wondered about these questions, wonder no more! We have created a tool to help you dig into specific MAP data and make classroom and student decisions. The Data Conversation Tool will help provide and classroom overview of performance and help you plan for instruction. This document is linked on the MAP by NWEA site found under “Staff Links” on the MPS homepage. The tool will walk you through a process of analyzing MAP data, leveraging the Learning Continuum and planning for instruction. If you would like more support with this process, please contact a Leadership & Learning Facilitator.
