Step 2: Click on the Better & Better icon.
Step 3: On the Better and Better HOME tab, search for "SafeSchools."
Step 4: Click the arrow to the right side of the title to see details.
Step 5 & 6: Click the REGISTER button on this screen and the next screen.
Step 7: Click VIEW to be directed to the SafeSchools website and complete the course.
This course is designed to provide an overview of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and how it might apply in schools. It covers ADA basics, such as what qualifies as a disability and reasonable accommodation, program accessibility under title II, the differences between the Individuals with Disabilities in Education Act and the ADA, and effective communication in the educational context.
This course addresses training needs relating to student education records. This course covers important legal terms related to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), the general responsibilities of staff members under FERPA, FERPA's rules regarding confidentiality and disclosure, and the rights of students to access and inspect their own education records kept by the school.
Organizations must have a policy or a workplace violence prevention program in place. This course aims to equip staff with essential knowledge about awareness and prevention of workplace violence. It will cover the various levels and causes of workplace violence, identify early warning signs, and provide techniques for defusing hostile situations.
